For a decade now, Waleed Khalid’s chiseled features and promising modeling has stared back from billboards, subways, and almost every notable magazine. He is one of the most familiar faces of Pakistan’s fashion industry. With his hard work and professionalism, he is blooming in the field.
I caught up with Waleed for a revealing interview which will let you know this gorgeous model more.
How did you first get into modeling? And how long have you been modeling?
I first got into modelling when I was discovered at a newspaper office by a scout. I was signed up with a suiting brand that did a billboard campaign with me. After that I was asked to walk for the very first ramp show for PFDC. As I was prepping backstage for the Munib Nawaz show HSY approached me and asked me to walk for him as well. It was right after that, I took up modelling as a career. I have been modelling for almost 9 years now.
What are the pros of being a model?
Well, your wardrobe is always sorted. It is one of the best perks of being on this job. All your friends are designers, so you get access to shoes and clothes. Approach to stylists gives you a well-groomed look. You meet people who think out of the box and that inspires you to think creatively as well. And you get to travel locally and internationally.
What’s the biggest misconception about the male modeling industry?
That modelling is a quick and easy way to make money. But it is not. It takes time to establish yourself in the industry and that only comes with hard work and persistence.
A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?
Exceeding the number of cheat meals allowed in a week. I do makeup for it though. I work out double for it!
What newbie mistakes did you make when you first started modeling?
Assuming that my pants are not to tight! And not knowing that models charge for attending launches and have different charges for say a print campaign as compared to a billboard campaign.
We have seen some models proceeding to acting, do you have plans to do so?
Yes, definitely I have plans and I m working on something by the end of this year. Actually, it started when I worked on and acted in fashion films with HSY. Then, I realized I really enjoyed acting and wanted to explore this avenue.
What do you do to stay in shape?
I have been going to the gym very regularly. Recently, I got into an accident and I couldn’t work out, I had ruptured my ligament. My grip was compromised and that’s when I focused on a healthy and balanced diet which is equally important.

Any grooming tips for men?
Always maintain and trim your beard if you are keeping one. I feel hair styling is essential it reflects your personality. Make sure to cleanse and moisturize your skin at night, clean and healthy skin is one of the first things people notice about you.
Last but not least, any advice to readers and aspiring models?
Never get disheartened, be honest and work hard. Your time will come for sure. Always put your hard earned money in your mothers hand and you will see it double every time!
